Our Story
Climbers, hikers, swimmers and riders; we are passionate about being outside. Based in the heart of North Yorkshire, we get to see every day what this beautiful county has to offer - and our love for the rugged hills and storm swept beaches are what inspired Chasing The Dawn.
Over the past 20 years, we have been using traditional techniques to create beautiful handspun and handknit clothing for friends and family - and then we decided it was time to share our skills in a way that would encourage adventure.
For our Mistral range, we take what would be discarded fleeces from sheep farmers, wash them, card and spin the wool, and create a truly wonderful and cosy final product in the shape of our raw hats that celebrate the places and environment that make Yorkshire great.
Our Tempest range are inspired by the very best of Yorkshire’s fine scenery, and every design is unique. Each hat is accompanied by a picture, the place or time that inspired each individual design.
All hats are 100% wool, meaning they are naturally water resistant and fantastic for cold North East adventures. Wherever you are going, whatever you are doing, your kit is not complete without a Chasing The Dawn beanie to protect your head from the worst of the weather.
We’ve been there, in the cold and wet - full type 2 adventure seekers, we know how important it is to keep your head warm whatever the weather.
Collectively, we have over 50 years participating in outdoor sports, so you know we know what we’re talking about. This isn’t about making your adventure, it’s about making your adventure as enjoyable as possible in sustainable and stylish headwear.
